Around Halloween, students like to go to haunted houses, trick-or-treat, and the Six Flags Fright Fest to have fun and enjoy the holiday with groups of friends and family.

Haunted houses are the most favorable tradition during all the traditional Halloween events. Students like haunted houses more because of the suspense and uncertainty of what will happen next after a chase. Some people believe that haunted houses help people overcome some of their fears.
“When they are chasing us in the haunted houses, it is terrifying, but it will definitely be fun if you go with the right group of friends,” Dekyla Webb said.
Halloween is a holiday that most people can enjoy, and it’s a time to gather and learn about each other. Halloween is a socially acceptable way to dress that’s normally considered unconventional.
“Cheetah makeup, and if I go to a Halloween party, I’ll do the Freddy Krueger because it’s cute, and I like the cheetah print,” D’Miya Sails-Hale said.
Some believe that Halloween has demonic roots and that dressing up in costumes or decorating jack-o-lanterns is a way to hide from or scare away demons. Some believe that the holiday worships the devil and glorifies evil.
“Yes, and she gave a backstory on how a glass picture frame broke with a figure in the doorway of my father,” Sails-Hale said.
People often avoid okay spiritual games like “Bloody Mary” because of the fear associated with potentially summoning a spirit, the physical discomfort of staring in a mirror in dim lighting, and the belief that games bring negative consequences.
“No, I think it’s related to demonic and spirit stuff,” Alayiah Hall said.
People around Halloween usually watch scary movies because they are exposed to all things scary. Even though you’re scared while watching a horror movie, people know that they are safe in their own homes, which gives them a sense of control over the experience.
“Scream is my favorite to watch around Halloween times because it’s the build of the suspense, and in the movie, they have to find out who’s the killer, and the Ghostface goes around killing people off guard,” Dekyla Webb said.
Excitement occurs when some people enjoy the adrenaline rush from fear. Clothes like the spooky theme because it allows them to confront their fears without any embarrassment while sharing experiences with others through spooky activities like haunted houses and costume parties.
“I like the theme of Halloween because I enjoy the social experiences and cultural reflection,” Sails-Hale said.
